Modernizing the e-commerce experience and enhancing performance
Looky, a renowned brand in the beauty and nail care universe, wanted to evolve its digital presence to support its growth and strengthen its online impact. With an expanding catalog and increasing demand, the brand sought to adopt web best practices to improve website performance, enhance user experience, and support its marketing strategies. Maze was mandated to design a complete website overhaul on Shopify Plus, including a UX/UI redesign and a new technical architecture based on Shopify Hydrogen.

Designing a bespoke experience with a headless architecture
Unlike traditional theme-based Shopify sites, a headless approach involves a complete separation between the user interface and the e-commerce engine. This architecture offers great design freedom but also requires careful consideration of the technical architecture and user experience. The challenge was therefore to design a platform capable of taking full advantage of this flexibility while ensuring smooth navigation and optimal performance.
Approach
Rethinking the Site Experience and Architecture
The project began with an in-depth analysis of the existing experience to identify opportunities for improvement in navigation, catalog structure, and user journeys. Maze then rethought the experience architecture and the various user touchpoints. Detailed wireframes were used to define the information hierarchy and page structures before the design phase. The UX/UI redesign aimed to create a modern and intuitive interface, capable of showcasing products while simplifying catalog navigation.
Solution
A headless architecture developed with Shopify Hydrogen
To achieve these goals, Maze undertook a complete redesign of the site using Hydrogen, Shopify's headless technology. Thanks to an architecture based on React, the new site offers a more dynamic and personalized user experience. Modular components make it possible to create a flexible interface capable of integrating relevant product recommendations and smooth catalog navigation.
The site also relies on server-side rendering (SSR) and static generation, which ensures optimized performance and fast loading times. This architecture also makes it easier to deploy updates and improve the site's maintainability.
Deployed on Shopify Plus, this new platform offers Looky a robust infrastructure capable of supporting its marketing strategies and the evolution of its digital ecosystem.
